The Hindu faith holds a strong belief that the Ganges River is impervious to pollution, regardless of the source. Unfortunately, this notion has resulted in a lack of action against pollution in the river for years, leading to the dumping of sewage and factory waste into the water. The riverbanks are now strewn with dead animals, which are left to be scavenged by birds. Locals still use the river water in their daily activities as they believe it possesses healing properties, despite the prevalence of waterborne diseases. As an artist, I am inspired to draw attention to this issue of unconscious pollution and to reconsider the human-water relationship in my upcoming collection.
